INSTRUCTIONS – REMOVING BRISTLE GLUE (NEW BRUSH PREPARATION)
Before first use, it is important to remove the factory glue from the bristles to prevent damage to paint and artwork.
Once the glue is removed and the brush is fully saturated with water, the brush will reveal its true working shape.
Basic Glue Removal Steps:
- Step 1: Soften the glue
Soak the brush tip in water for 1–2 minutes to soften the glue.
Hold the brush by hand and do not let the bristles touch the bottom of the container, as this may damage the brush tip.
(Smaller brushes may require less soaking time.)
- Step 2: Release the glue
Gently squeeze the bristles from the ferrule toward the tip to help dissolve the glue gradually.
Avoid pulling or applying excessive force to prevent breaking or loosening the bristles.
- Step 3: Rinse
Rinse under gently running water while lightly stroking the bristles until there is no sticky feeling left on your fingers.
Note: Larger brushes require more thorough rinsing, as glue may remain deep inside the core.
- Step 4: Reshape the brush tip
Use your fingers to reshape the bristles back to their original form.
For round brushes, you can gently roll the tip on a towel, paper, or mixing palette to achieve a finer point.
- Step 5: Dry naturally
Allow the brush to air-dry naturally. Avoid direct sunlight or hot air dryers.
BRISTLE SHEDDING
-
Note: As a handcrafted brush, slight bristle shedding may occur during the first 1–2 uses, which is completely normal.
-
If excessive shedding continues after 5–6 uses, please contact Lobeo for a replacement.
BRISTLES AFTER DRYING
After glue removal, especially with animal-hair brushes, the bristles may appear softer and fluffier when dry and may not return to their glued factory shape.
Once the brush absorbs water, it will regain its proper form.
Over time, if the bristles feel stiff, dry, or lose their softness even when wet, this indicates that the bristles have deteriorated.
CARE & STORAGE
-
Rinse the brush thoroughly after each use
-
Store in a dry, well-ventilated place
-
Avoid leaving the brush standing in water for long periods, as this will damage the brush shape
-
Avoid placing dry bristles facing downward on surfaces that may deform the brush tip
