“Trúc” means Bamboo, and “Lâm” means Forest. “Trúc Lâm” is not simply a bamboo forest, but a symbol of resilience, calmness, and quiet strength.
Each brush is crafted from carefully selected short, thick bamboo segments.
The brush tip is made using a fabric-core wrapping technique dating back to the Tang Dynasty. This traditional method creates a dual-layer brush structure: a central core with low water absorption (typically made from cloth or fiber), wrapped by an outer layer of hair. This construction allows the brush to retain water effectively while maintaining its shape and elasticity, resulting in stable strokes, precise control, and quick recovery after pressure.
The brush is especially suited for techniques requiring high pigment and water retention for medium or long delicate strokes. When used for large washes that require pressing the brush down, the fabric core may come into contact with the paper surface, unlike conventional large brushes.
This is a collector-grade brush designed for those who wish to experience a traditional technique preserved for over a thousand years.
